Commissioned Work: Harvest Festival 2012, ‘Keep On the Grass’
In 2012, Le Pie was commissioned to build an installation at the Sydney leg of the well received, ‘Harvest’ music and art festival.
Over a period of 3 days, Le Pie and her team constructed an ambitious 3 x 3 x 3 meter, living grass cube. Drawing on her textiles roots, each panel of turf was meticulously hand stitched to pieces of ply wood using fishing line, before being screwed to the erected support structure.
‘Keep On The Grass’ was a tongue in cheek comment on the ever increasing rules and regulations found at music festivals. The work encouraged punters to enter the cube, lay in it, touch it, climb on it, therefore experiencing the work in a multi-sensory way.
Ply wood, turf, treated pine, fishing line, nails, screws. 3 x 3 x 3 meters.
